Let’s Fly a Kite--8th Annual Kite Festival

On Saturday, April 10, 2010, The Arvada Festival Commission and the Foothills Kite Club will sponsor an exciting event: The 8th Annual Kite Festival. This free family event will have kite flying competitions for all age groups. The categories include: the smallest, largest, highest and the most visually appealing kites. The Foothills Kite Club members will be judging, and trophies will be given out to the winners.

If you don't have a kite, not to worry, Downtown Toys & Games will be selling kites at a very reasonable price. Children can also make and decorate a small kite for free. And since this is a family fun event, there will be many other activities to participate in. These include jumping castles, a face painter, a caricaturist, a free art activities tent, many wonderful food vendors, community vendors and the Jeffco Brass Band will play from noon to 1:00 p.m. There will also be a couple new free activities this year.

There will be two kite building classes, held at the Majestic View Nature Center. These are on March 20th and 27th. The cost is $3.50 each. Call the Majestic View Nature Center at 720-898-7405 to register now.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 10th, and come on over to Robby Ferrufino Park at 74th and Carr St. from 10:00-4:00. Watch all those colorful kites flying, listen to some great music, and just have fun. Let's go fly a kite, on April 10th!
